And to think that Lady Gaga (née Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), who is best known for her meat-dress wearing, CFDA Award-winning and chart-topping ways, started as a Catholic schoolgirl at the tony Upper East Side Convent of the Sacred Heart. After attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and later becoming a staple of the underground music scene in Lower Manhattan, Germanotta was signed as a songwriter to Interscope Records before being discovered by rapper Akon. And so, Lady Gaga was born. With the world’s largest following on Twitter (6 million and counting), enough Grammy’s to fill a house and a new album (“Born This Way”) topping the charts, Gaga mania shows no signs of slowing down.
