Khan traded a job on Wall Street to become a nightlife kingpin—a successful swap. After opening the clubs Wax, Sway and Hiro, he made the swanky Rose Bar in the Gramercy Park Hotel the spot where his friend Axl Rose rubs shoulders with Upper East Side socialites. His latest scores include his restaurant, Kenmare, and re-starting Don Hill’s, the legendary down and dirty rock club. During Fashion Week, Don Hill’s hosted back-to-back parties and live performances by big name acts like Courtney Love, Iggy Pop and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as well as a packed, sweaty crowd that included Josh Hartnett, Kelly Osbourne and Terry Richardson. Khan, born in New York City, was raised in Westport, Connecticut and opened up his first night club in Norwalk, the Marquee, commuting to his Wall Street job. As a successful concert venue that hosted bands like Nirvana, Radiohead and Pearl Jam, it was only a matter of time before Kahn would enter the nightlife business for good. Kahn then moved to New York City and was known for hosting many parties and fashion shows in his loft. Kahn moved and expanded the party by opening Wax in Soho, dawning his reign of nightlife kingpin. After closing the club after three years, the mellow nightlife guru, moved to China and then London to study martial arts, which helps him in the changing chaos of nightlife. Khan’s most recent expenditure includes partner Paul Sevigny (a DJ and actress Chloë’s older brother) and the formation of Downtown Hospitality Management, a company that will open and operate restaurants, clubs and one day, maybe hotels.
